EMPLOYMENT COUNSELOR
About Us
Blue Heron Programs is a community-based behavioral employment program that supports adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our Employment Counselors (ECs) work closely with Program Managers (PMs) and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The BCBA develops individualized behavioral plans that ECs can implement throughout their daily support, using positive strategies tailored to each participant's goals.
Job Description
As an Employment Counselor, you will work with adults with developmental disabilities to build the skills necessary to gain and maintain competitive integrated employment. Using our training, curriculum, and your own ingenuity and talent, you will help participants develop:

Core Duties
-
Meet daily with 2 participants
-
Plan and lead activities that support in the development of new skills and new behaviors related to your participants goals
-
Support participants through job readiness and soft skills curriculum
-
Support participants to develop coping skills that help them in their daily lives
-
Use behavioral strategies to encourage growth, build resilience, and foster positive daily habits
-
Help participants understand and manage behavioral challenges in a supportive and respectful way, using positive reinforcement and individualized strategies
-
Provide transportation for participants to and from program activities
-
Plan weekly schedules with participants focused around their goals
-
Attend daily virtual staff meetings and bi-weekly 1:1’s with your manager
-
Lead in person and virtual activities to support social connections between participants
-
Once participants secure a job, provide support at their worksites to ensure success in their job duties

Requirements
-
High school diploma
-
Clean driving record
-
Clean background check
-
A reliable car (4-door, minimum 4 seater)
-
Working computer and high-speed internet capable of connecting to Zoom
-
CPR/FA certification (within 30 days of being hired; we reimburse this cost)

Salary starting at $22.00 per hour

Bi-weekly mileage reimbursement ($0.70 cents per mile)
